Are you looking for an alternative to Tesla? Good news, the American start-up Lucid will land in Europe next year.
In the United States, Lucid sees itself as the start-up that makes better than Tesla. And on paper, it must be said that the Lucid Air impresses. The 100% electric sedan, the brand’s first model, promises great luxury worthy of European premiums and an announced autonomy up to 832 km. All in a minimalist and futuristic design. After a recent injection of 4.5 billion dollars (3.8 billion euros) and a Initial Public Offering with great pomp, Lucid does not hide his ambitions. And these will soon pass through Europe!
Interviewed by the American specialist Electrive, Roberto Russo, Director of Lucid Germany, announced that Lucid Air deliveries would start in 2022 in the country. Other European markets will then follow, including France. Lucid’s arrival in Europe was long overdue, but the Covid crisis and the semiconductor shortage forced the small manufacturer to postpone the start of production in the United States, initially scheduled for 2020.
Up to 832 km of autonomy!
Moreover, on the manufacturer’s website, you can already book the Lucid Air. You can book the entry level Lucid Air Pure (480 hp for 653 km of autonomy) for 300 €, against 900 € for higher versions Air Touring (620 hp for 653 km) and Air Grand Touring (800 hp for 832 km). The launch version, the Lucid Air Dream Edition (1080 hp and more than 800 km of autonomy) is no longer available.
The prices for Europe are not yet indicated, but be aware that the Lucid Air Pure (the cheapest) will go on sale in the United States for $ 77,400, or around € 65,000. For information, the Tesla Model 3, in its long-range version (with its announced 614 km of autonomy and 440 hp) is offered at € 52,990.
Later, Lucid plans to launch the Gravity, an SUV that will take over the Air platform.
