France Television has so far broadcast the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but the past is now in order since the television rights to the Le Mans event have been acquired by the channel L’Equipe. A logical redemption for the ACO, responsible for the organization of the event:
“France Télévisions offered us good visibility so far at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but did not give us any for the rest of the World Championship. The WEC is booming. Brands are coming back like Ferrari, Porsche, Peugeot and Audi, all of which will be racing by 2023 with Toyota. There was, for us, a form of logic to find all the events of the WEC in the same place, with a complete offer on different supports. By joining forces with L’Équipe, we will have guaranteed visibility“.
The Team intends to put the package together with a broadcast spanning several days: “for us, Le Mans will start on Wednesday and end on Sunday evening. Our special envoys will take us through the last runs, the tests, the qualification of the hyper pole, the Friday parade, etc. And we will also broadcast the support races played on the main circuit (the Porsche Cup, Road to Le Mans and Endurance racing legends)“. Remember that the 24 Hours of Le Mans have been postponed to August 21 and 22.
