THE Carlos Sainz gave an impressive performance in Australian GPtaking victory for the third time in his career and leading the Ferrari's first 1-2 from Bahrain of 2022. Her Spanish pilot Ferrari passed him Max Verstappen in the second round, with the latter dropping out with damage to rear right brake.
After the incident, Mr Sainz led the rest of the race wisely and without problems or errorskeeping the lead from his stablemate, Charles Leclercwho finished second.
At the same time, Mr Spaniard he is the only driver who has so far won the Red Bull from its beginnings 2023. However, his future at Formula 1 after its end 2024 is not guaranteed, since it has already been known that o Lewis Hamilton will replace him at Ferrari in 2025.
By Sergio Perez has not yet renewed for the next season, the possibility o Sainz to return to the “family” where he started his career, remains open. We remind that the Spaniard debuted in Formula 1 the 2015 with her then Red Bullwhich was later renamed to AlphaTauri and is now called Racing Bulls. It remained there until 2017before moving to Renault.
For the case o Sainz to switch to Red Bull spoke o team principle team's, Christian Horner: “I think we want to recruit the best possible combination of drivers at Red Bull Racing and sometimes you have to look outside the team. For example, we have a very fast, unemployed (for 2025) driver who won today's race. So the market is quite fluid with some drivers.”
When asked by the Autosport on whether the Sainz could constitute selection for the teamThe Horner answered: “Look, based on a performance like that, you can't rule anything out, so I think you just have to take your time to decide.
“Obviously, Checo was exposed today. He's had a really good start to the season too, so we're not in a desperate rush. Carlos is the only driver who has won for Red Bull in the last year, so he seems to be our nemesis.”
Accordingly, the Sainz spoke for his part about the possibilities his dazzling performance in the Australian GPjust 16 days after the appendicitis operation, which ruled him out of the Saudi Arabian GPto elevate him in their eyes team principalssecuring him a place in the grid of 2025:
“I do not know. Sure, it doesn't hurt. This is 100%. I still don't have a job for next season, so I guess that will help. I think everyone more or less knows what I'm capable of.
“I'm not competing to prove my worth to the team principals or the public. I'm racing to prove to myself that if I'm given a car, I can do it and be up there. And that's the approach I have and will continue to have for the rest of the season.”
