Falsified or non-genuine certificates of conformity of imported registered used vehicles were forwarded to the prosecutor for further investigation.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, through its competent services, forwarded to the prosecutor 12 cases of vehicles, in which irregularities in the certificates required for the import of registered used vehicles had been found. In particular, the importers of the specific vehicles posted in the Registry of Imported Used Vehicles (M.E.M.O) Certificates of Conformity, which were characterized by the National Distributors, as either non-genuine or falsified.
The Registry of Imported Used Vehicles (M.E.M.O.) was created for the central, remote supervision and control of compliance with the supporting documents required for the import and first classification of used vehicles in our country. The Deputy Minister of Transport Christina Alexopoulou stated: “I asked the competent services of the ministry to immediately forward the relevant files to the prosecutors. Cross-checking of applications will be regular, so that those who, in the future, would like to illegally think again. The political leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is determined to put an end to the phenomena of lawlessness in the field of used cars, protecting the citizens”.
