All good things come to an end and that seems to be the case with her BMW Z4 for whichaccording with information from American Car and Driver, there will be no new generation and 2025 will bring down the curtain.
After all, it is a common secret that the seasons where sports, two-seater cars found buyers, have passed and year after year the sales numbers are decreasing.
This is also true in the case of the Z4 which last year it sold just 1,881 units in the US market. This performance is improved compared to 2022 but far from the 2,941 cars sold in 2019.
In Europe the Z4's numbers were clearly better after 2019 reached them 9,681 units and the following year they fell slightly to 8.314. But are these performances enough for the model to continue its course? The answer is no, especially considering the Z4 was selling in the mid-2000s nearly 10,000-12,000 cars per year, in the US alone.
The model first appeared in 2003 taking over from Z3 which had catapulted its popularity through the 17th James Bond film “GoldenEye”. The current generation, the third, was presented on 2018 and developed along with it Toyota Supra. Two years later it was renewed and some time ago BMW added a manual transmission option.
Beyond the BMW Z4the publication reveals that the same fate may also have the 8 Series, in Coupe and Convertible versions. The information states that the model will only continue on Gran Coupe form and possibly see one i8 which will plug in and compete with models like the Porsche Taycan and the upcoming one electric four-door Mercedes-AMG GT.
Finally, the publication states that BMW is considering the possibility to support Alpina more with proposals that will compete with its models Mercedes-Maybach. In order to avoid internal competition, the Rolls-Royce will not renew it Ghostwhose position in the market it will take the upcoming Alpina B7;. This means that Rolls-Royce will focus exclusively on luxury models and among them may be and a convertible version of the Spectre.
