In Kharkov, checkpoints that were installed at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russian troops into Ukraine have reopened. New posts were also set up.
It is reported that at checkpoints, representatives of the territorial defense and police check the documents of drivers. They are also asked to open the trunk of the vehicle. This led to huge traffic jams on the city's roads.
City residents note that representatives of law enforcement agencies behave politely, but do not explain the reason for these events. The mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, undertook to relieve tension among Kharkov residents. According to him, planned military exercises regarding checkpoints have begun. They will last only a few days, so residents of Kharkov need to try to calmly react to temporary inconveniences.
“I want to reassure the residents of Kharkov, because today, March 12, planned military exercises regarding checkpoints began. Therefore, I ask you to be calm, nothing terrible happened. These are exercises that we conduct over a certain period of time,” Terekhov said on air at the “United News” telethon.
