V6, V8 and W12 engines
Although Audi is known for its quattro drive, the production base engines relied on front-wheel drive, even though all engines were placed longitudinally at the front. The gasoline base became the 2.8 V6. V8s with a displacement of 3.7 and 4.2 liters were higher. Already in this generation, we met the first Audi S8 with a 4.2-liter eight-cylinder, which had 5 valves per cylinder and a maximum output of 265 kW, i.e. 360 horsepower.
