The destruction of airborne reconnaissance aircraft reduces the occupiers’ ability to conduct radar reconnaissance and identify air targets and radar systems, said Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignat.
Speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuriy Ignat believes that the destruction of another Russian A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft will not affect the invaders’ strikes on Ukrainian cities. He announced this during the telethon.
According to him, the loss of such equipment reduces the capabilities of Russians.
“The capabilities of Russian aviation are decreasing as special equipment is destroyed, flight personnel are destroyed, the entire crew is killed,” said Yuri Ignat.
He noted that only in this way can the occupiers be gradually destroyed with the means that the Ukrainian military has. Ignat noted that Ukraine has a limited resource in long-range air defense systems. In addition, the Russians still have such aircraft and can plan attacks in the future.
The representative of the Air Force noted that the enemy will take into account what is happening and will not fly closer with the same sides of the A-50.
“You see that the more of them (occupiers – ed.) we destroy, the further that plane operates. This reduces their ability to conduct radar reconnaissance of the territory of Ukraine, identify air targets in the airspace, as well as identify our radar systems,” – Ignat added.
Ukrainian military destroyed another A-50 aircraft: what is known
On February 23, the commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Nikolai Oleshchuk, spoke about the destruction of a Russian A-50 radar reconnaissance aircraft over the Sea of Azov. The elimination of enemy aircraft is a joint operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces. After being destroyed, the enemy aircraft fell in the area of the Trudovaya Armenia farm in the Krasnodar Territory (Russia).
Let us recall that on February 24, Air Force representative Yuri Ignat said that, according to intelligence data, the enemy had eight A-50 aircraft. He noted that not all of them are working and modernized.
