The solution will be the new D1 motorway, which is delayed
The problem is that the rain further increases the already high risk of falling rocks, which can endanger passing motorists and their vehicles. A geological survey, which is to start in the next few days, should reveal more about the current state.
“We will know exactly how many square meters of protective nets we will add, whether we will have to strengthen and expand the dynamic barriers, and in what volume we will install them in any other places,” Director of Investment Construction and Road Administration of the Slovak Road Administration in Žilina, Ivan Brečka, told the TASR agency.
Drivers who pass under Strečno today will avoid this problematic section in the future thanks to the new D1 highway. The delayed section of the Lietavská Lúčka – Dubná Skala expressway should be completed by the end of next year and will form part of the highway connection between Bratislava and Košice.
