According to the Kharkov regional prosecutor's office, the Russians attacked the city center with S-300 missiles. Among the victims is a four-year-old child.
On the evening of January 23, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation shelled Kharkov for the third time in 24 hours. The mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov, announced this in his Telegram channel.
“And again, a blow to residential development. There is not a single military facility there. Only residential buildings, or civilian infrastructure, such as shops, hospitals, pharmacies, and so on,” Terekhov wrote.
According to the official, seven people were injured as a result of the attack.
In a comment to Suspilny, Terekhov noted that the Russian occupiers attacked the center of Kharkov.
“It’s terrible when the Russian aggressor hits civilian targets, but they also understand that this is a central part, that these are civilian targets,” the city mayor said.
The head of the Kharkov regional military administration, Oleg Sinegubov, reported on his Teleram channel that, according to preliminary information, there were three hits in the city in the evening.
According to Sinegubov, the Russian Armed Forces hit an educational institution, and also damaged residential infrastructure and cars. According to him, eight people were injured.
Later, the head of the Kharkov regional prosecutor's office, Alexander Filchakov, in a comment to Suspilny, said that the number of victims had increased to nine. Among the wounded is a four-year-old child.
“Preliminarily, the most serious condition of the nine people is a wounded woman with a hip fracture; the other wounded are in a better condition,” Filchakov said.
The head of the regional prosecutor's office also clarified that as a result of Russian shelling, a scientific institution was damaged, and not an educational institution, as previously reported.
“We believe that in this way the Russians are trying to intimidate the civilian population of the city of Kharkov so that civilians evacuate from the city. This is a war strategy on the part of the Russian Federation. In our opinion, they will continue to use such missile strikes in the future,” he noted.
Let us remind you that on the morning of January 23, the Russian Armed Forces struck the civilian infrastructure of Kharkov. According to the head of the OVA, Oleg Sinegubov, a private house was damaged as a result of the attack.
A few hours later, the invaders attacked Kharkov again. Four hits were recorded in the suburbs. Residential buildings in the private sector were damaged. In another region, the Russian Armed Forces destroyed a sanatorium school for sick children. One of the missiles also hit a gas pipeline.
