According to the US Secretary of State, Russia must be willing to participate and negotiate in good faith, based on the basic principles that have been called into question as a result of its aggression: territorial integrity, sovereignty, independence.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that he does not foresee an immediate end to hostilities in Ukraine. In his opinion, Russia currently does not show readiness for constructive negotiations, which makes it difficult to achieve peace in the near future. He announced this at the World Economic Forum, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“We are always open to this, attentive to this, because the Ukrainian people want this more than anyone else,” Blinken emphasized.
He added that Russia needs to be willing to participate in negotiations while respecting the principles that have been called into question by its aggressive actions. These principles include territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence. Only with an honest and conscientious approach on the part of Russia can one count on a successful resolution of the conflict and the establishment of peace.
In accordance with the statement of the US Secretary of State, the president of the aggressor country, Vladimir Putin, expresses his readiness to continue to involve “his young people” in the conflict situation, which he himself created, in order to promote his interests.
Let us recall that on December 28, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev outlined the Kremlin’s position in possible negotiations with Ukraine on a peace settlement in 2024. According to him, the war will continue, and its goal is the disarmament of Ukrainian troops and the removal of the current government in Kyiv.
In addition, the Polish Ministry of Defense said whether Putin would attack NATO. According to Secretary of State of the Polish Defense Ministry Pavel Zalewski, the Russian president is a dictator and receives false information about the situation in the world from his subordinates. Western countries must do everything to prevent the Kremlin from winning.
