The new CrossContact H/T from Continental is a summer tire, adapted to the needs of drivers who travel on asphalt as well as on soft dirt roads.
Made with a particularly robust design, high performance and comfort, the Continental CrossContact H/T it bears the “M+S” marking, as an indication of its offroad capabilities. It can be installed in vehicles with conventional as well as electric drive systems.
Continental will produce 43 versions of the new tire, to allow as many drivers as possible to fit it in a variety of vehicles. Each version of the CrossContact H/T one is equipped with a “nerve” on its rim, which protects the wheel from damage when it comes into contact with stones. The new CrossContact H/T is manufactured for rims with diameters from 15 to 21 inches, with approvals for up to 270 km/h. With its product range, Continental covers a total of 97% of the potential tire options for passenger cars, crossovers and SUVs in the passenger/SUV segment in Europe.
On a technical level, Continental’s engineers have adapted the tread and the rubber compound in such a way that not only is it possible to grip on and off-road (H/T = highway/terrain), but they have also managed to increase mileage, by 20%, compared to the previous model. The tread design is multi-purpose, for the daily challenges faced by a passenger/SUV/crossover car, both on asphalt and on soft dirt roads, with great resistance to stones.
At the same time, the safety-related properties are equally advanced and the rolling noise is low and mild for the vehicle occupants and the environment.
The wide range of CrossContact H/T covers many vehicles in the automotive industry, such as Alfa Romeo, Ford and Lexus, Mercedes, Toyota, Volvo and VW. Even SUVs and 4x4s that are less common in Europe, such as the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado and Mercedes X-Class, can be equipped with the new multi-purpose tire, CrossContact H/T.
The new CrossContact H/T is set to replace its predecessor, the ContiCrossContact LX2 and will join the rest of the CrossContact tire family, which has been very successful in the replacement and Original Equipment markets and includes summer and winter tires for passenger cars, crossovers, SUVs and 4x4s. For these vehicle categories, Continental produces a total of 270 tire sizes for offroad use. The range of these products is already being enriched in 2023.
