The JCW versions will continue to be a consistent value in the MINI Cooper range despite the electrification orientation of the new generation of what was once known as the MINI Hatchback and now as the MINI Cooper and of course the MINI Cooper Electric. Although John Cooper passed away in 2000, shortly before BMW took the reins of MINI, his name is now intertwined with the MINI performance series and his not inconsiderable performance on the racing fields.
Just like that, the new MINI Cooper that was presented at the 2023 Munich show will still include in the JCW options both the three-door version and the cabrio that were spotted in development tests.
At first glance, one can distinguish the larger grille and the spoiler at the end of the roof of the three-door version. However, with the departure of the camouflage, it is possible to reveal design details and “excesses” that we recently saw in the Countryman JCW.
It should be noted that both the three-door and the cabrio versions are, for cost reasons, significantly upgraded technologically and digitally versions of the model known to date, and the same will apply to the JCW versions as well.
With this logic, on the unseen side of the new JCW editions it is expected to find the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in an upgraded version which is expected to offer up to 300 horsepower as there will be different versions and special editions as usual. Of course, it is possible that MINI will surprise and reserve even more for its archetypal model in its new version, although we assume that the “surprises” will focus more on the electric version that will also be entitled to the JCW “treatment”.
