For a while it seemed that the Golf’s time was definitely numbered and that the electric hatchback ID.3 would become its direct successor. However, the battery Volkswagen is far from being as successful as the Germans had hoped. They even have to limit its production due to less customer interest, so the future of the Golf looks a bit more interesting and, dare we say, even slightly rosier.
The truth is that in 2022 it was overtaken by the VW T-Roc in the popularity rankings, but with more than 177,200 registrations, the Golf ended up in fifth place among the best-selling cars on the European market. We don’t have this year’s results yet, but it seems that interest in Golf is even increasing. During the first eight months, VW delivered 114,787 units, 1,750 cars more year-on-year, but the hatchback is being overtaken by the new Tiguan, so it will probably end up in third place within the brand in 2023.
