The 2024the Hyundai go for it doublefollowing an aggressive strategy in its line-up.
He brought him back to the team There, Tanakand with him Thierry Neuvillethey form a duo that wants to mess with her Toyota and get back on top – especially after his decision Kalle Rovanpera to follow partial program.
Speaking to AutosportThe team principal and hopefully chairman of Hyundai Motorsport, Cyril Abiteboulpointed out that the beginning of the year will find the two drivers absolutely equalalthough there is a point during the season when this tactic will be re-evaluated:
“When the season starts, there will be absolute equality in the parts used, the information given, the opportunities, and the rights and privileges provided under the contract to both drivers, with the third car here for support.
“We have set a point in the season, which I won’t reveal, where we will review the situation and maybe change the way we handle things within the team. This is known to the drivers.”
The Frenchman is well aware of that 2022 there was enough intensity among the two guidesand while he understands that this may happen again in ’24, the prefers and explains why:
“I’d like to think it’s a good problem to have. I’d rather have two drivers against one and deal with the consequences than have one driver against two (from other teams).
“A lot of times this year we were one against many, against Kalle (Rovanpera), (Sebastien) Ogier and (Elfyn) Evans, and it was very difficult at times. It was a tough job and a tough challenge for Thierry.
“Yes, it will be difficult in (2024) as we will have some battles within the team, but I also think it is a relief for a driver to know that he is not alone and not carrying the weight of the whole team on his shoulders.
“On many occasions this year I felt it was almost too much pressure on Thierry and we saw that when he made mistakes it’s also because there was probably this huge pressure because he was alone.
“There’s going to be conflict, there’s going to be tension and I’m doing everything I can now (to deal with that). I’m not waiting for Monte Carlo or later in the season to discuss our strategy. I think some of these issues can be alleviated if we deal with them out of action and pressure. Overall, I think we will be better equipped next year.”
