H RB19 wrote a record, being now the single seater with the more wins in one season, having 21 wins in 22 matches.
Its head RB, Christian Horneremphasized that the “diet” this year’s car entered was the key factor that made the difference compared to the equally competitive RB18.
“The thing to remember about the RB19 is that many of its parts came from the RB18: the gearbox, a large part of the suspension, and half the chassis.
“The most important issue we solved was weight. We delayed starting our preparation for 2022 at the end of 2021 because of the championship battle we had, so our car was rather overweight.
“So we managed to take 20 kilos off this year and eliminate some of the imperfections it had.
“Many parts, however, were taken from the 2022 car and with them Max won 19 out of 22 races this year and 15 in 2022, so in total he took 34 wins with these parts.”
For Horner, the reduction of weight she was bigdifference between at RB18 and RB19explaining how pounds were removed from the entire length and width of the car:
“We cut weight from everywhere. We didn’t focus on one specific point. This was also the main difference between the 2022 and 2023 cars.”
