You can’t eat a moldy lemon, but you can keep it fresh for a long time using one simple method.
Lemon is valued for its beneficial properties for human health. Water with lemon in the summer heat helps to better quench your thirst, and in the winter cold, tea with lemon allows you to warm up faster. ElegantWoman talked about how to store this valuable fruit.
Unfortunately, once a lemon is cut, it spoils very quickly. And if you don’t have a large family tea party or not the whole family loves lemons, there is a risk of throwing away the spoiled, moldy fruit before you have time to eat it completely.
Under normal conditions, cut lemons can be stored in the refrigerator for no more than a week. And if you suddenly forgot it on the table, and the kitchen is quite warm, mold may appear within a day.
If a lemon becomes moldy, you can no longer eat it. This fruit just needs to be thrown away. But there is one way that can extend the life of a lemon and keep it fresh for a long time.
How to extend the shelf life of lemon
To keep a lemon fresh as if you just cut it, do the following:
- cut the lemon into small pieces;
- place the pieces into the cells of an ice tray;
- fill the mold with water;
- Place the mold with the lemon in the freezer.
In this form, lemon can be stored for a very, very long time. Now, whenever you want to drink tea or water with lemon, take out one or two cubes and throw them into a glass.
Let us remind you of a simple recipe for a delicious delicacy – soft and fragrant lemon cookies. These cookies expand in the oven and literally melt in your mouth.
Previously Focus I wrote about what the best lemon cakes are. This delicious dessert is also called blondie, as opposed to chocolate brownie.
