The first Ukrainian electric car was front-wheel drive and received two motors. In its design, such innovative solutions as an aluminum body and air suspension were used.
Electric cars were built in Ukraine 88 years ago. This was established by the experts of the Historical Automobile Club, according to “Autocentre”.
Auto historians found out that in the mid-30s in Kyiv, a group of employees of the auto department of Glavdortrans of the Ukrainian SSR (the predecessor of Ukravtodor) under the leadership of A. Taubin was developing passenger electric cars. In April 1935, a prototype car was ready.
For its time, the Ukrainian electric car was progressive. Its body and tubular frame were made from aircraft-grade aluminum. In addition, the electric car was front-wheel drive and received an independent air suspension on all wheels.
