The St. Petersburg Nissan plant, which has become the property of AVTOVAZ, may receive a new name. According to the president of the Russian auto giant, Maxim Sokolov, the plant is planned to be renamed Lada St. Petersburg.
This name must be properly approved, not only on the board and, let’s say, the board of directors of AVTOVAZ, but also with the government of St. Petersburg, in accordance with regional legislation. We have made such a proposal. I hope that it will be positively considered in the near future,” the head of AVTOVAZ said.

In early February, AVTOVAZ announced the closing of a deal to acquire a 99% stake in the company’s authorized capital at a price of 1 euro, to be paid in rubles at the exchange rate on the day of payment.
At the site in St. Petersburg, it is planned to produce at least three new Lada models – their production will begin in the second half of 2023. These are more expensive models of segments C and D, including sedans and crossovers. The production of cars will be carried out in partnership with foreign companies, presumably Chinese.
