The representative of the Chairman of the UN General Assembly clarified that the Russian Federation continues to be a member of the UN and therefore Csaba Kereshi sees no obstacles to discussing topical issues with the President of the Russian Federation.
Chairman of the UN General Assembly Csaba Kereshi, despite the decision of the International Criminal Court to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin, is ready to personally meet with the politician. This was announced by the representative of the chairman Pauline Kubiak during a briefing on Friday, March 17.
Representative of Csaba Kereshi was asked by journalists if the UN General Assembly President is ready to continue to personally meet with the Russian President and discuss political issues with Vladimir Putin.
Kubiak answered in the affirmative.
“Russia is a member of the UN General Assembly – this has not changed and will not change, unless the Security Council and the General Assembly take other forms,” Kubiak said.
She added that Kereshi represents all the countries of the General Assembly in the UN and Russia is no exception. Therefore, he will meet with Vladimir Putin if the need arises.
On March 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Putin. In addition to the Russian dictator, a court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Maria Lvova-Belova, the presidential commissioner for children’s rights.
