The manufacturer promises that the cost of the basic version will not exceed 25,000 euros (2,000,000 rubles).
Volkswagen has unveiled the VW ID.2all electric car concept, a compact hatchback comparable in size to the European Polo, but with a more spacious interior.
The design, inspired by the classic Golf, Polo and Beetle, will be the future benchmark for all of the company’s future electric vehicles.
The VW ID.2all electric hatchback is built on the MEB Entry front-wheel drive platform, an electric motor in front, and a conventional “beam” rear suspension. The new “trolley” is designed for budget models of the concern. While existing electric vehicles of the brand are rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, they use the MEB platform (without the Entry prefix).
One of the main features of the VW ID.2all should be a roomy and thoughtful interior for this class. The wide wheelbase – 2,600 mm (for the Golf 8 – 2627 mm, for the Polo hatchback – 2548 mm) and the free rear of the platform (all the main power units are located in front), made it possible to make a large trunk – 490 liters (1330 with the seats folded).
In addition to the trunk, there is an additional luggage box under the floor, and another “secret” compartment (closable) for storing valuables and charging cables is installed under the seats. The front panel is equipped with two separate screens, a dashboard and a 12.9-inch media system.
It is stated that the Volkswagen ID.2all electric hatchback will be equipped with an electric motor (226 hp) and a 56 kWh battery (power reserve of about 450 km). Fast charging time from 10 to 20% is about 20 minutes. Acceleration to 100 km / h – less than 7 seconds. The maximum speed is 160 km. But there will be another trim with a 38 kWh battery that will offer a more modest range.
One of the main competitive advantages of the new Volkswagen ID.2all should be the price, the manufacturer promises to keep the cost of the basic version at 25,000 euros (2,000,000 rubles).
For comparison, prices for the current Volkswagen ID.3 2023 electric hatchback start at 44,000 euros, and a Volkswagen Golf 8 with an internal combustion engine costs 33,400 euros.
A commercial version of the new Volkswagen ID.2all will appear in 2025.

Detailed overview
By 2026, Volkswagen plans to release at least ten new electric models, and one of them will be the “budget” ID2 hatchback. It will be on a par with other electric cars, which will be united by a new corporate style.
Even now, when the exterior of the novelty is revealed, you can be sure that it is not for nothing that it is called “more friendly”. Judging by the images of the new VW hatch and the design of its front end, it really tries to smile, and the large wheels give the car a toy look.
A fun reference is the dashboard graphics in the style of the classic 2nd generation VW Golf.
The Volkswagen ID2 will be a 4050mm long car, but the wheelbase will be an impressive 2600mm. This promises a relatively large interior space and the ability to create a full-fledged five-door body, despite the fact that the hatch tries to look like a three-door on the outside.
It is based on the latest MEB Entry platform, which allows the creation of electric vehicles with front-wheel drive. Inside, the ID2 offers an uncharacteristic cabin architecture with a new multifunction steering wheel and two overhead displays.
The central one responsible for the operation of the infotainment system will have a size of 12.9 inches. And below it will be the already familiar HVAC control panel with illuminated buttons and a rotating drum that allows you to navigate through the multimedia menu items.

Technical filling
The pre-production version of the electric hatchback was presented in full, so even some of the technical characteristics of the novelty became known.
So, the first modification of such a car will be a version with an electric motor with a capacity of 222 hp. With. (166 kW) and two batteries to choose from (38 kWh and 56 kWh). The most capacious will provide a range of 450 kilometers (WTLP). The dynamics of the “budget” VW ID2 is also impressive – 7 seconds to “hundreds”. As for other modifications, they may have an engine with different parameters, while the release of all-wheel drive versions is not planned.
Prices and start of sales
The new hatch is scheduled for 2025. The German manufacturer himself set the bar for himself, beyond which the price of the initial modification of the VW ID2 should not go – this is 25 thousand euros.
Conceptually, he describes his model with the words “spacious, like a Golf, inexpensive, like a Polo.” But, interestingly, the company plans to develop an even cheaper electric car, which will cost customers “no more than 20 thousand euros.”
