The decision on new deliveries of weapons was made following the meeting of the Contact Group in the Rammstein format. The announced aid should arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Canadian Minister of National Defense Anita Anand, following the meeting of the Contact Group in the Ramstein format on March 15, announced that 8,000 155-mm caliber shells, 1,800 105-mm caliber tank shells, and 12 anti-aircraft missiles for air defense systems will be delivered to Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Canada.
A new package of military assistance to Ukraine will accompany the donation of Leopard 1 tanks announced by Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands. In addition, eight Leopard 2 main battle tanks, as well as a previously announced armored recovery vehicle, support equipment and ammunition, will arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks.
“Canada strongly supports Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s illegal and unjustified war. We will continue to make every effort to preserve freedom, democracy and a rules-based international order,” Anand said.
Recall that the journalists of The National Post became aware that Canada is preparing to transfer hundreds of Teledyne Flir R70 Skyranger drones of its own production to Ukraine. Canadian drones are capable of searching for chemical weapons, tracking mobile phones and even identifying people.
Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov spoke about the first results of the meeting in the Ramstein format. According to him, the tenth meeting inspires optimism, since Ukraine will strengthen its air defense, receive ammunition, and the Ukrainian military will form an “armored fist.”
