Mikhail Samus predicts that the first phases of the counteroffensive will not be ground-based, since the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not yet have the necessary weapons to carry out such operations.
In the near future, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will launch a counteroffensive. This was announced by Deputy Director of the Center for the Army, Conversion and Disarmament for International Affairs Mikhail Samus on the air of the program “Verdict with Sergei Rudenko” on Tuesday, March 14.
“The first phases of the counter-offensive operation can be expected in the coming days, in the next one or two weeks,” Samus said.
He clarified that the phases will not be ground-based, and during the counter-offensive, the Ukrainian military will use high-precision weapons.
Samus believes that the high-precision element of the operation can be carried out even before the conditions for the acquisition and readiness of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Western weapons are created.
But the ground phase of the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will begin when certain conditions are created.
“Now we are waiting for more long-range weapons, because the Russians are trying to keep their elements of the command structure, ammunition trains further than 80 km from the front line, avoiding HIMARS strikes,” the military expert explained.
Recall that on March 13, a military expert predicted that Bakhmut would face the fate of the destroyed Maryinka. According to Ivan Stupak, a military expert from the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, the Russian Armed Forces use aircraft, guided and unguided bombs, and artillery, destroying every district, block and street in order to push the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, on March 11, military expert and coordinator of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko named three bridgeheads where the Armed Forces of Ukraine could launch a counteroffensive. According to him, each of the bridgeheads has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, which one our military will choose – they know only in the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
