The designers promise that the UAV will take off in April, but for now, the aircraft-type drone is being tested on the ground.
In Russia, they showed ground tests of an aircraft-type drone called Tramp. Exclusive footage of tests in the Astrakhan region was published on its Telegram channel by the RIA Novosti news agency. The customer of TRAMP is the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and they believe that the Kronstadt design bureau will be able to create one of the most long-range drones in the world. Focus introduces you to the details.
What is known about the TRAMP UAV
The developers decipher the abbreviation TRAMP as follows: transport aviation multifunctional platform. Engineers claim that their creation will be able to cover a distance of 600 kilometers without refueling, and will be engaged in reconnaissance, as well as providing communications.

It will be possible to install a payload in the form of cameras, radars and radio stations on TRAMP. The drone has a length of 6 meters, a wingspan of 10 meters and a mass of 300 kg. It is equipped with a rotary engine with an electricity generator. “Trump” can rise to a height of up to three kilometers and fly at a speed of 195 km/h. In addition, the drone will be equipped with compartments for transporting goods weighing up to 250 kilograms.
The purpose of the TRAMP drone
In general, the Russian military plans to use TraAMP not only for reconnaissance, but also for the delivery of ammunition, equipment and medicines to the battlefield. But the drone can also be used for humanitarian missions, for example, delivering food and medicine to residents of remote regions of the aggressor country.

According to the promises of the developers, TRAMP is a promising and innovative project that can improve the efficiency and safety of various operations in the field of defense and the civilian sector.
Who competes with TRAMP
However, the future Russian drone has serious real and already flying competitors. For example, the American helicopter-type MQ-8 Fire Scout UAV has a flight range of about 200 km and a payload of about 130 kg.

The Chinese drone CH-4, also of an aircraft type, has a flight range of about 4,000 km and a payload of about 350 kg. But Russian engineers say their model outperforms the competition in terms of low production costs and cargo space that will allow the TrAMP to carry a wide variety of bulky cargo.

The Russians criticized the drone TRAMP
Visually, the TRAMP body is really large and you can still somehow believe in the carrying capacity, but there are serious doubts about the issue of “small costs”. This, as well as Trump’s appearance, is actively discussed by Internet users, and even the Russians themselves openly mock this “miracle of the Russian aviation industry.”

By the way, the cost of development and the price of the drone have not yet been announced. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation does not disclose this information, although the drone is part of the state armament program for 2018-2027. The Kronstadt company also does not report on the timing of the completion of development and the start of mass production of TraMP, but according to local experts, this may happen three to five years after the successful completion of the tests.
Earlier Focus wrote that the Russian occupiers are using “mysterious” complexes “Murom”: why the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to destroy them.
