According to the Chinese leader, any separatist manifestation of Taiwan should be stopped, and the PRC should advance the course of “national revival” with Beijing.
At the National People’s Congress, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that the idea of national revival and reunification with China should be promoted. It is reported by The Guardian.
During the speech, Xi outlined his priorities for a new cadence. One of the objectives is “national reunification and rebirth” with Taiwan.
“We must actively resist outside forces and Taiwan’s separatist activities for independence. We must unswervingly advance the cause of national revival and reunification,” Xi Jinping said.
He also stressed the need to promote peaceful development on both sides of the China Strait. At the same time, he did not previously rule out the use of force against Taiwan, as this is a “historical imperative” against the backdrop of growing tensions between the United States and China.
Xi Jinping argues that the army should be strengthened into a “great wall of steel” to protect China’s national sovereignty and interests.
“Security is the foundation of development. Stability is the foundation of prosperity,” the Chinese President said, emphasizing the importance of economic self-sufficiency.
Also, with the beginning of the third term of Xi Jinping, he began to change the top of the government. A new prime minister, Li Qiang, a minister of defense, and a number of other appointments were appointed. It also set a new target for China’s economic growth of 5%, up from 3% in 2022.
Recall, on March 2, the media wrote that the United States approved the sale of weapons to Taiwan for 619 million dollars, which will allow the purchase of missiles and cruise missiles.
On March 7, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the United States should not require China not to sell weapons to Russia, since they are selling weapons to Taiwan.
