According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian defenders are repulsing enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Minkovka and Orekhovo-Vasilyevka.
Footage of a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine appeared on the network, who spoke about the situation near Bakhmut. According to him, the Defense Forces keep the defense on the outskirts of the city. The footage was published on the Telegram channel of the representative of the Odessa Regional Civil-Military Administration Sergey Bratchuk.
“The defense forces are holding (the enemy) on the outskirts. We are giving battle. Glory to Ukraine,” the Ukrainian defender said.
The situation near Bakhmut
According to the information of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dated March 12, the main efforts in the Donbass are being made by the enemy in the Limansky, Bakhmutsky, Avdeevsky, Maryinsky and Shakhtyorsky directions. Under Bakhmut, the Defense Forces repel attacks, including near the settlements of Minkovka and Orekhovo-Vasilyevka. For its part, the enemy launched artillery strikes on the settlements of Orekhovo-Vasilyevka, Bogdanovka, Bakhmut, Chasov Yar, Kurdyumovka, Druzhba, Mayorsk and New York in the Donetsk region.
“In the Bakhmut direction, the enemy does not leave attempts to capture the city of Bakhmut. Our defenders repelled enemy attacks in the areas of the settlements of Minkovka and Orekhovo-Vasilyevka,” the press service of the General Staff said.
Recall, on March 12, Defense Express expert Ivan Kirichevsky said that the Ukrainian defenders destroyed so many enemy troops in the Bakhmut direction that it would be enough for an offensive at a strategic level. According to him, in an attempt to capture Bakhmut, the enemy lost about 50,000 soldiers and up to 200 tanks.
On March 12, the commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Denis Yaroslavsky said that the situation that developed in Debaltseve in 2014, when the city was in a cauldron, and all routes were blocked by the enemy, could repeat in Bakhmut.
