The accident occurred in the southern Brazilian state of Parana in the village of Giandaya-so-Sul, when the bus was taking children to school. It is reported by the Daily Mail.
There were 25 children in the school transport at the time of the collision. Two of them – two girls aged 11 and 15 – died on the spot. Five students and one teacher were injured.
The impact ejected four passengers from the bus. Investigators worked on the spot to find out if the bus or train was moving at an excessive speed.
Jandaia so Sul civil police questioned the bus driver. He said that he did not see the train.
“He confirmed that he did not see the approaching train and did not even hear a single sound, even after a car stopped on the opposite side of the street,” police chief Carlos Paravidi said.
