In Poltava, a rare executive sedan GAZ-14 “Chaika” was put up for auction. The car is in excellent condition and has a rich history. This was reported on the website of the News of Poltava region.
Officials and heads of government traveled to the USSR on “Seagulls”. GAZ-14 first rolled off the assembly line in 1977 and over 12 years of production, only 1114 cars of this model were produced.

At one time, the GAZ-14 “Chaika” was not available for purchase. The car was intended for the ministers of the Union republics, the first secretaries of regional committees and directors of large strategic enterprises.
The car put up for auction is on the balance sheet of the Municipal Institution of the Poltava Regional Council for the Maintenance of Administrative Buildings. This sedan was released in 1980.

The Poltava enterprise “Chaika” came in 1992. Boris Yeltsin was transported on this car when he worked in the Moscow City Committee of the CPSU.
In Poltava, the car was operated only for high-ranking guests who visited the region. According to rumors, one of them was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine in 1972-1989, Vladimir Shcherbitsky.

Later, “The Seagull” was used only as a car for weddings. The last 3-4 years the sedan was in the garage, so they decided to sell it at auction.

An independent appraisal of the cost showed that the car costs about 700 thousand UAH. Nevertheless, the owners want to get at least UAH 1.2 million for Chaika, which will be the starting price at the auction. All proceeds will be used to improve the material and technical base of the enterprise.
GAZ-14 “Seagull” is equipped with a 5.5-liter V8 gasoline engine with a capacity of 220 hp. and 451 Nm of torque. It is paired with a three-speed automatic transmission.
The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 15 seconds. The maximum speed is 175 km/h.
