An adviser to the head of the President’s Office hinted that only the Russian Federation, which tried to blackmail European countries with an energy crisis, benefited from the accident that occurred on the underwater section of the Nord Stream pipeline.
The explosions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline that occurred in September 2022 were beneficial primarily to the Russian Federation. Such an opinion voiced adviser to the head of the President’s Office Mikhail Podolyak on his Twitter page.
He believes that the September incidents at SP-2 occurred against the backdrop of attempts by the Russian Federation to “freeze Europe” and scare it on the eve of winter.
“Before that, the Russian Federation tried to block NS2 (the Nord Stream 2 pipeline,” ed.) with breakdowns that allegedly could not be fixed for months. So who benefited from the accident?” Podolyak wrote.
Thus, the politician responded to the version published by the Western media that the explosion was arranged by a certain “Ukrainian group.”
Explosions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline: what does Ukraine have to do with it
On Tuesday, March 7, the New York Times published an article on the explosions at the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
“New intelligence reviewed by US officials suggests a pro-Ukrainian group is behind the Nord Stream attack,” it said.
The “grouping” allegedly acted without the knowledge of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to intelligence cited by the media, the explosives on the Nord Streams were probably planted by experienced divers who have nothing to do with the army and special services.
“U.S. officials said they have no evidence that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky or his top aides were involved in the operation, or that the perpetrators were acting on instructions from any Ukrainian government officials,” the media article said.
The NYT also pointed out that the United States found no evidence of Russian authorities’ involvement in the sabotage at Nord Stream.
Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary General, immediately responded to the publication.
“The UN does not have any information about the involvement of the pro-Ukrainian group in undermining the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines,” he said.
In turn, the White House refused to comment on new media reports about the terrorist attacks on the Nord Stream, citing an ongoing investigation by European countries.
On the same day, the German newspaper Die Zeit published an article stating that the investigation of the FRG had identified a ship involved in the Nord Stream bombings.
This is a yacht that was rented by a company registered in Poland. The media notes that the company allegedly belongs to two Ukrainians.
The Western intelligence service already in the fall conveyed to the European services – partners that the Ukrainian group was responsible for the destruction,” the Die Zeit article said.
The first among Ukrainian officials to publish these materials reacted Mikhail Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of the President’s Office.
“While I enjoy collecting funny conspiracy theories about the Ukrainian government, I have to say: Ukraine has nothing to do with the accident in the Baltic Sea and has no information about “sabotage groups supporting Ukraine.” What happened to the Nord Stream gas pipeline? they say in the Russian Federation itself,” he wrote on his Twitter page.
On Wednesday, March 8, The Washington Post wrote that European and US intelligence did not intercept messages from Russian or Ukrainian officials that would unambiguously prove their involvement in the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline explosions in September 2022.
“The special services have evidence that both Ukraine and Russia could have been involved in the attack on the gas pipelines,” reads the material published by the media.
In turn, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius called for waiting for the results of the Nord Stream investigation, in response to a request to comment on the involvement of “pro-Ukrainian groups” in sabotage on pipelines.
According to him, a “false flag operation” could have taken place.
“The likelihood of both one and the other is equally high. So you just have to wait and see how things develop,” he said.
On the same morning, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, after publishing in the media about sabotage on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, said that the Ukrainian special services had nothing to do with this. He made this statement in Stockholm on the sidelines of an unofficial meeting of EU defense ministers.
“For me, this (publication) is a little strange, because this story has nothing to do with us. I believe that an investigation by official bodies will clarify all the details. This, of course, is a “compliment” to our special services, but this is not our doing,” Reznikov said.
On the same day, a Politico publication appeared dedicated to the explosions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in September 2022.
The media, referring to the words of an employee of the US Congress, wrote that sabotage on the Nord Streams was probably committed by people associated with Ukraine, and not the Russian Federation and the United States.
But the Spanish publication Confidencial was skeptical about the version of involvement in the terrorist attack on the Nord Streams of the pro-Ukrainian group.
“This could be a ‘smoke screen’, a way to ‘distract public opinion and ease suspicions that the Americans were really the culprits,'” the media wrote.
In addition, on March 8, the US National Security Council declaredwhich is unable to confirm reports of a “pro-Ukrainian group” allegedly behind the Nord Stream bombing.
Recall that in November 2022, Swedish prosecutor Mats Jungqvist said that the explosions at Nord Stream were a planned sabotage. Near the damaged pipelines, experts found the remains of explosives.
Focus also wrote how the breakthrough of the Nord Stream will affect the life of the Earth. According to research, as a result of a gigantic leak, about 220 thousand tons of greenhouse gases, mostly methane, were released into the ocean, and then into the atmosphere.
