A Ukrainian defender was mortally wounded on March 7 while defending Bakhmut from Russian invaders. Farewell to him took place in his native village in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
In the village of Bovshiv, Ivano-Frankivsk region, fellow countrymen said goodbye to the defender. On March 9, Telegram-Telegraph published a video from the scene.
Hundreds of people came to honor – fellow villagers, relatives, brothers. Along the way, the warriors were met on their knees by residents of neighboring villages.
On Friday, March 10, “Da Vinci” will be buried in Kyiv. The place and time of the funeral will be announced later.
Dmitry Kotsyubaylo served as junior commander of the 1st assault company of the Main Directorate of Management “Right Sector” and the acting commander of the 1st OMB “Da Vinci Wolves”. President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to his death. He noted that for Dmitry the war did not start on February 24, but nine years ago. The fighter of the 67th separate mechanized brigade has forever preserved himself in the history of Ukraine. The head of state said that the Hero of Ukraine will be remembered for a generation.
Dmitry Kotsyubaylo is a native of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. He went to the front in 2014. Then he was only when he was only 18 years old. After participating in the Revolution of Dignity, the guy joined the “Right Sector” and went to defend the Donetsk and Luhansk regions from Russian invaders. Participated in the battles for Pokrovsk, Sands, Karlovka and Savur-Mogila. In the same year, he was seriously wounded near Donetsk – a fragment of a shell flew into his face, knocking out a tooth and tearing his lip, the second fragment broke his collarbone. After treatment, he immediately returned to duty and again defended Ukraine.
Recall that the former People’s Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Borislav Bereza confirmed the information about the death of Dmitry Kotsyubail. He spoke about the details of the tragedy. According to him, the reason for the death of “Da Vinci” was a shrapnel wound in the neck, which the fighter received during the fighting near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The doctors were powerless.
Writer Sergei Zhadan recalled how important Da Vinci was at the front. The journalist met the fighter in Avdiivka. According to him, the Hero of Ukraine personified “an epic historical figure – deep, expressive, integral.” Everyone who heard about the legendary fighter instantly became more serious.
