The General Prosecutor’s Office of the country has already begun work on the relevant document, which should establish a mechanism for bringing to justice.
In Belarus, officials have begun work on a law that will make it possible to prosecute dead people. It is reported by Radio Liberty.
According to media reports, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the country has already begun work on the relevant document.
The department argues the need for such a law by saying that it will allow bringing to justice Nazi criminals who escaped criminal prosecution during their lifetime for crimes committed on the territory of Belarus during World War II.
Now, in the shortest possible time, a specially created working group should develop a mechanism for bringing to justice “Nazi criminals and their assistants who, for a number of reasons, including those related to the policies of individual states, were not brought to justice.”
Recall, on March 9, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed a law on the death penalty for high treason. Belarus has now established an additional penalty in the form of a fine of 50,000 basic units for committing crimes, as noted in the press service of the head of state.
Focus also wrote that on February 21, the House of Representatives of Belarus introduced the death penalty for the military for treason. Changes to the legislation are made “in order to contain destructive elements, as well as to demonstrate a resolute struggle against betrayal of the state.”
