The professional career of a racing driver in motorsport began with Peugeot brand cars. After a successful run in the UK, he received a Peugeot 205 GTI as a gift from his friend and wealthy rally enthusiast David Williams. Later in 1990, Richard Burns took part in the Peugeot Challenge.

In 1991, the racer got a Peugeot 309 GTI Group A for the finals of the world rally championship. It was this car that was put up for sale.
In the Peugeot 309 GTI Group A, Richard Burns went head to head with 4WD rally monsters such as the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth and Lancia Delta Integrale.
The car for sale has the original 1991 RAC Rally livery. In 1998, Richard Burns bought the car from a private collector.
The car remained with the Burns family after the driver’s death in 2005. It was used in charity events in support of the Richard Burns Foundation, which helps support people with cancer and neurological diseases.

In 2021, the car once again passed into the hands of a private collector. All this time he was under the supervision of Autosportif Engineering rally specialists.
Peugeot 309 GTI Group A is equipped with a 1.9-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with 175 hp. and 194 Nm of torque. It is paired with a five-speed manual gearbox.

The car has been serviced regularly and is in excellent condition. All rally equipment, including various sensors, a roll cage and a MOMO sports steering wheel, remained in place.
