Car trips between Kaliningrad and mainland Russia have always been complicated by unnecessary borders. Now the land route is practically closed. Two ferries run from Ust-Luga to Baltiysk. They take a passenger car on board for 38.5 thousand rubles, they go 36-40 hours. But the most interesting thing is that the ships do not take passengers: they only have 12 passenger seats. Therefore, you will have to fly by plane and lay a lot of extra time for the delivery and receipt of the car.
They promise that a new service will appear this year: dry cargo ships and ferries will be used to transport cars in containers.
While the demand for the service is being studied, possible tariffs are being calculated. Without state subsidies, if the cost drops, it will be insignificant, at best, up to 30 thousand rubles. Support from the budget can reduce the price to 10-15 thousand. And there will be more ships involved in the transportation of cars, which will make life easier for those who need to transport them.
In a car carrier
And as part of the trains between Moscow and Vladivostok, a car carrier appeared. Its first flight from the capital took place on February 21, from the Far East in the opposite direction – on March 2.
While the innovation has been introduced in test mode, the wagon is hooked up if there are requests for transportation. If the service is in demand, the supply will also increase.

The car can accommodate three to four cars or up to eight motorcycles. The possibility of unloading at an intermediate point is available only when traveling from Moscow and only in Krasnoyarsk.
Expensive?
The prices are big. They will charge 42,760 rubles for a motorcycle, 85,519 rubles for a passenger car weighing up to 1,050 kg, 111,833 rubles for a car weighing 1,051–1,500 kg, and 151,303 rubles for more than 1,500 kg. But the delivery time is only eight days, and the time of arrival is known in advance. The freight train goes at best for three weeks, and when the car actually ends up in the hands of the owner, it is impossible to predict.
Trains with car carriers run between Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, Adler. The directions Petersburg – Vorkuta and Khabarovsk – Novy Urgal also work.
