Despite the widespread myth about small pensions in our country, the Pension Fund announced the specific number of citizens who receive far from a small pension.
In Ukraine, they calculated how many citizens receive more than 10 thousand hryvnias in pension payments. It turned out that there are about 700 thousand such pensioners, Irina Kovpashko, deputy chairman of the board of the Pension Fund (PFU), said in an interview with Ukrainian Radio.
She explained that as part of the indexation of pensions, which started in Ukraine on March 1, 2023, such pensioners could receive even larger payments. But then the formula would not have succeeded in raising lower pensions.
“They could receive large payments, but higher pensions would become even higher, and we would not reach lower ones. Therefore, such an increase will work specifically for civilian pensioners. These pensions may also fall under additional guarantees if their size after indexation is not reached the minimum specified by the government. These are pensions of civil pensioners (or insurance pensions),” she said.
She also clarified the situation regarding the “mass recalculation of pensions”, since April 1 is the date from which the Pension Fund automatically recalculates pensions for working pensioners every two years.
So, if a pensioner continues to work after the appointment of a pension, then every two years he has the right to recalculate. Recalculation in 2023 for such pensioners will be carried out precisely from April 1.
“This will happen after we receive relevant data from the tax authorities on the indicators of contributions paid in 2023. Then a recalculation will be made,” Irina Kovpashko emphasized.
To whom will pensions be recalculated from March 1
It is known that the increase in payments will definitely affect the most vulnerable categories of Ukrainians who receive payments:
by disability; by age; by length of service: by loss of a breadwinner.
The amount of the minimum insurance payments will also be recalculated. This applies to:
Chernobyl disabled liquidators of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
The amount of payments for this category of citizens is tied to the average salary for 2022. It is noted that the indicator of the average salary, from which insurance premiums were paid at the end of last year, is 13,387 UAH 48 kopecks.
Earlier, Focus said that Ukraine would conduct a large-scale check on the legality of payments. The Ministry of Finance has developed a new methodology for verifying pension contributions, according to which pensions will be verified in the future.
We also recall that Ukrainians during the registration of a pension may lose part of the payment from the state. It turns out that this is influenced by the dates of application for retirement.
