For the whole of 2022, a little more than $13 billion was transferred to Ukraine, according to the National Bank. The regulator separately predicts a deterioration in the situation with money transfers to the country.
At the end of January 2023, the volume of private transfers to Ukraine from abroad amounted to $967 million. This is 4.7% less than a year earlier ($1,015 million), the press service of the National Bank (NBU) reports.
According to the data of the national regulator, for the whole of 2022, a little more than $13 billion was transferred to Ukraine, which is 6.7% less than in 2021. Then the volume of transfers was fixed at the level of 14 billion dollars.
At the same time, in 2021, the volume of private money transfers to Ukraine from abroad amounted to $15.26 billion. This is almost a quarter more than in 2020.
As for the forecasts for 2023, the National Bank believes that the situation with the transfer of funds will worsen. Thus, it is expected that this year the transfers of labor migrants to Ukraine will decrease from $16.4 billion to $15.9 billion.
It should be noted that according to the UN Refugee Agency, almost 8 million Ukrainians in 2022 had to leave the country and travel to European countries for the sake of safety. The largest number of Ukrainians is concentrated in countries such as:
Poland – 1.5 million; Germany – 1 million; Czech Republic – 486 thousand; Italy 169 thousand; Spain – 161 thousand; Great Britain – 158 thousand.
Earlier, Focus said that the volume of foreign currency cash that banks imported into Ukraine in January 2023 amounted to $803.4 million, which is $170.5 million more than a year earlier.
We also recall that the NBU allowed volunteers to spend more money on military equipment after the lifting of some currency restrictions.
