Let me explain a little: many Ukrainians who do not communicate with anyone in Bakhmut consider the situation there too critical, that the city is “on the verge of falling.” But judging by the information leaked on the social network, the military themselves, who are there, seem to still be in high spirits.
On the other hand, in the ranks of the Russian Airborne Forces, the RF Armed Forces and PMCs in the Bakhmut area, the situation is as follows: the Russians continue to suffer huge losses, the number of mob complaints is constantly growing. Of course, all their demands for Putin to get them out of there remain unanswered. The National Guard had to transfer an additional contingent of Kadyrov’s troops behind the front line in order to block all the defectors. (By the way, Kadyrov’s Chechens of the Akhmat special forces detachment are deployed in the Kremennaya area for the same purpose).
Bakhmut-north. The Russians cleared Berkhovka and from there began the assault on Bogdanovka. They claim that they also captured Yagodnoye, but so far they have shown only the entrance to this village. Of course, Wagner is ahead, and they are proud to say on social networks that they are only 1000 meters from the city center and keep road 0506 to Bakhmut under shelling.
However, the Ukrainians blew up the dam of the Berkhovsky reservoir to flood the area from the south of Berkhovka towards Podgorodny in the north, in an attempt to hamper the Russian advance. If there is enough water in the reservoir, it could stop the Russians, at least for a while.
The Wagnerites claimed that the dam was blown too late (or, more likely, there was too little water in the reservoir), and that the PMC managed to advance about 500 meters south of the Berkhov reservoir. Like, “Ukrainian resistance was weak” … Around the same time, official Kiev announced Zelensky’s dismissal of the commander of the Joint Forces (for Donbass), Major General Eduard Moskalev, who was appointed to this position in March 2022.
Later I was told that “they” were planning a counterattack, but they asked me not to talk about it yet. So, if anything, you didn’t find out from me, and everything that happens next in this regard remains unconfirmed: according to people’s intelligence, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched not only one of their “local counterattacks”, but actually a major counterattack to the north from Bahmut.
By the way, they say that the operation is led by the 3rd Assault, 46th Airmobile and 17th Tank Brigades (please do not get euphoric: again, none of this has been confirmed yet), and “not all is well” (quote) , I am writing because it was mentioned “in more than two verified sources”, and not dependent on me.
Bakhmut-south. The other day “Wagner” launched an assault on Ivanovsky, southwest of Bakhmut, trying to pincer the enemy from the south. The obvious goal is to cut off the T0504 road: then the 0506 road and the road built by the Ukrainians will remain as the last two places for the garrison.
As of February 25, it seems that the Ukrainian positions held out, and this attack was repulsed (the 3rd assault was the core of the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this area). Of course, the Russians do not give up and keep trying.
Also, a Su-25 VKS was shot down over Bakhmut. Apparently, the Russians confirmed this loss. The troops of the 110th brigade of the TD announced that a Su-25 VKS was shot down in the Avdiivka area. It is reported that he was shot down from a MANPADS – the left engine was damaged, the plane crashed.
