In the following months, small local electricity shortages may occur in Ukraine, but it will not come to a blackout. Yuriy Boyko, a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, spoke about this during the national telethon on Wednesday, March 1.
Live, he was asked if there could be a shortage of electricity in Ukraine when the water field ends – the phase of the river’s water regime, in fact, a flood that occurs in the spring. Since it is thanks to him that HPPs can now generate an additional amount of electricity for the needs of domestic users.
“According to our estimates, small local deficits may occur at certain hours of the day, but this will only happen when the units (of nuclear power plants – ed.) are being repaired,” Boyko replied.
According to a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, the situation with electricity in Ukraine is steadily improving.
“We are restoring rather actively destroyed energy facilities, as well as some generating capacities. Therefore, the actual trend is towards increasing the amount of available electrical energy,” Boyko said.
What is now known about the energy situation in Ukraine
On Wednesday, March 1, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held an energy meeting, which was attended by Naftogaz, Energoatom, Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo. Also, members of the government, the head of the relevant committee in the Ukrainian parliament, representatives of the Ministry of Defense and intelligence took part in the three-hour meeting.
“This winter has passed. It was very difficult, and this difficulty was felt without exaggeration by every Ukrainian. But still, we were able to provide Ukraine with energy and heat. Yes, the threat to the energy system remains. But the work for the energy system continues,” the Ukrainian the president.
Zelensky noted that current tasks have already been fixed in order to normally complete this heating season.
Preparations for the next heating season have also begun.

From the decision to the actual opening of exports, it will take time to hold an auction for the distribution of capacity. But even with this in mind, without a serious deterioration in the situation in the energy system due to enemy attacks, it is realistic to resume electricity supplies to Europe.

The company’s employees repaired more than 4,000 power facilities and resumed power supply to more than 7 million subscribers.
