Defense structures in the Russian border region cost the budget 5 times more than spending on the healthcare system, and 70 times more than the program to provide housing for families with children with disabilities.
The construction of defensive fortifications, dubbed the “notch line”, in the Belgorod region in 2022 cost the Russian border region almost 10 billion rubles. This was written on Monday, February 27, by the TASS agency with reference to the Minister of Construction of the region Oksana Kozlitina.
“Measures were implemented to organize a system of fortifications for a total amount of almost 10 billion rubles,” the Russian official commented.
She also specified that more than 4,000 people and 680 units of equipment were involved in the construction of the “notch line” in the region.

Work began in April last year.
As the online edition of ChTD writes, as a result, they spent on the defensive line in the Belgorod region:
5 times more than for primary health care; 12 times more than for the housing program for orphans (775 million rubles); 20 times more than for the resettlement of Russians from emergency housing; 40 times more than for construction of houses for families with many children; 70 times more than for the housing program for Russian citizens with children with disabilities.
In November 2022, the governor of the Russian region Vyacheslav Gladkov said that the Belgorod region is the leader in the construction of defensive structures in the Russian Federation.
The local publication “Bel.ru” wrote that Belgorod state employees were forcibly driven to the border with Ukraine and forced to dig trenches.
The so-called “notch line” is a complex of defensive structures, consisting of anti-tank pyramids, platoon strongholds, trenches and other objects.
Recall that in December 2022, Gladkov showed the progress of the construction of defensive structures. In particular, he demonstrated “dragon’s teeth” – anti-tank pyramids – on the border with Ukraine.
