Mini-drones will help the military to patrol the territory and receive data on the actions of the enemy army.
The German defense concern Rheinmetall AG has begun deliveries to Ukraine of automatic reconnaissance systems using UAVs. This is stated in the press release of the company, which was published on February 28.
Now the Ukrainian military will be able to use these systems to fight Russian aggression.
“Rheinmetall, on behalf of the German government, is sending automatic reconnaissance systems to Ukraine. They are mainly used to survey the area, involving a minimum of personnel. As part of this project, Rheinmetall is cooperating with the Estonian company DefSecInt,” the document says.
SurveilSPIRE automated systems are small observation points equipped with surveillance cameras, including night vision cameras. The kit also includes small drones that are used for patrols, as well as devices to control them.
The system can be easily transported on a trailer to the desired location, and only three people are required to deploy an observation point. The reconnaissance complex operates with the help of the Starlink satellite Internet operator, special software based on artificial intelligence, and is powered by solar panels.
The amount of the contract signed with Ukraine exceeds $10 million.
Earlier, Focus reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine demonstrated the operation of the Wind 8 drone. This is a commercial drone that was adapted by Ukrainian fighters for shock. It can carry up to 20 kg of payload – a maximum of 8 ammunition.
