The new JustClass platform is designed to help secondary school teachers save time on preparing and checking homework for free.
On January 30, 2023, the team of the JustSchool online school in Ukraine launched the free JustClass online platform for teachers. The idea is to help teachers save time by delegating homework preparation and checking to technology. To do this, the teacher must select ready-made homework on this platform from a database containing more than 1,500 interactive exercises and send the generated link to the students. The platform itself will automatically check and assign points for completed tasks. And since all old and new assignments are constantly displayed in the personal account of the teacher and students, teachers can easily track the progress of students and their areas for growth.
Exercises for grades 5-11 in mathematics, Ukrainian, and English are now available on the website. The JustClass team is constantly adding new exercises and plans to develop more exercises for other educational subjects. Since all the exercises correspond to the school curriculum, secondary school teachers can use this tool without worrying that they will miss any topics from the curriculum. As it happens with other online platforms, where there are ready-made tests or quests on various topics, but which often do not correspond to the curriculum.
In addition, the JustClass platform helps teachers to organize the educational process more effectively in conditions of chronic stress due to the full-scale invasion of Russia. During the covid-19 pandemic and since the start of hostilities, children have become accustomed to constantly holding their phones in their hands. As child psychologist Svitlana Roiz writes, for them “it is already a symbol of manageability, controllability.” Therefore, she advises to add training via mobile phone. For example, on the JustClass platform, you can do homework from any gadget and from any part of the planet where the Internet is available.
Also in war conditions, notes Svitlana Roiz, “when we live a difficult experience, stress, traumatization – self-esteem changes, now children often live in the mode of waiting for failure. They need experience and support. Small familiar tasks, tasks where there would be a quick result.” . And because on the JustClass platform, students see their grades right away as soon as they submit an assignment to the teacher, kids get quick results and don’t have to worry about it until the teacher checks their homework.
It should be emphasized that all tasks on JustClass contain game elements, so they immerse students in the learning process, as if in a computer game. Such interactivity helps students learn the school program better and not turn to the Internet or classmates for help.
In addition to supporting interest in learning, the platform has also designed other measures to prevent writing off. For example, teachers can limit the time for homework, set a submission deadline, or hide the display of correct answers. Such restrictions physically prevent students from searching for answers on the Internet or seeing the correct answers and sending them to the class.
“We believe that our product will improve school education in such a difficult time,” says JustClass founder Ihor Furmanenko. “When I saw that children are now receiving homework via Viber or in PDF format, I was shocked. That’s when I got the idea.” to create a cool service where students will find it interesting and simple to do interactive homework, and the teacher will not need to check them.”
