Last year Volkswagen stopped production and sales of new cars in Russia. However, from VW factories in China, cars still get to our country – according to the parallel import scheme.
Wolfsburg corporate circles note that there are “established trade routes from China to Russia”, especially for used cars.
The German automaker decided to prevent this, although it can only do this with respect to new cars, since it is impossible to influence the used car market – they no longer belong to the company.

However, Volkswagen in China is relatively autonomous: the country has a principle according to which foreign automakers can only work as part of a joint venture with state-owned Chinese car manufacturers.
VW has instructed its own dealers not to allow exports to other countries. To date, Volkswagen China produces cars only for the Chinese market.
However, Volkswagen does not have direct influence over the shadow market independent Chinese dealers who can secure the export of new cars.
Therefore, VW has compiled a so-called “black list”, which includes well-known Chinese car exporters. Such traders may have tried to export the machines to other countries in the past. As conceived by Volkswagen, these companies will not receive the cars of the concern.
