President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky admitted that during the big war with Russia he partially lost his sight. He spoke about this in the documentary film “The Year” by journalist Dmitry Komarov.
“I lost my sight, it’s physical. On the contrary, I think that I see people. They worked a lot, there was no full light. The guards said – let’s do it a little less. [зрение]”, the head of state explained.

Zelensky observed the blackout regime. Fighter pilots during sorties, in addition to target coordinates, could focus on illuminated objects.
Komarov asked if Zelensky wears lenses. The President replied that he did not use them, but had to read only with glasses.
Recall that the President of Ukraine showed the room on Bankova Street, in which he lives after the start of a full-scale war with the Russian Federation. It is small in size, there is a massive cabinet with a sink and a wide mirror and a bed. The windows in the room are curtained with heavy curtains.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy demonstrated a wardrobe consisting of plain khaki jackets and combat boots. There are also several jackets in protective covers, one of which he promised to wear immediately after the victory of Ukraine.
The Sunday Times newspaper wrote on February 19 that Zelensky was in a Soviet-era bunker for the first two months of a full-scale war. The bunker is able to protect against a direct nuclear strike, but there is no light in it. Together with his inner circle, the president practically did not leave the shelter, the authors noted.
US President Joe Biden thought Zelensky was one of the Kremlin’s top targets and suggested that he evacuate and lead a government-in-exile.
