“And on the sidelines of the 2022 World Cup”…
Why this section? Because there are many new products this fall, and you certainly expect to see them all on our mini “Mondial de l’auto” site, where you traditionally find new models from all manufacturers.
However, several manufacturers having chosen not to be present at this edition of the Paris Motor Show 2022, a certain number of new products will not be exhibited at Porte de Versailles in Paris, and in particular the one presented in this article. In order to give you an exhaustive view and meet your expectations, we have nevertheless chosen to publish them on the Caradisiac mini-site dedicated to the Paris Motor Show, but in a special section “And on the sidelines of the Paris Motor Show Auto”.
The Urus is to Lamborghini what the Cayenne is to Porsche: an extraordinary goose in a global market where customers, even the very wealthy, all fall for SUVs. Based on the same platform as the Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg, Bentley Bentayga and other Audi Q8s, the Urus launched in 2018 currently accounts for more than half of the Italian manufacturer’s sales. While waiting for its mid-career restyling, scheduled for next year with a new plug-in hybrid version, Lamborghini is taking advantage of the Pebble Beach concours d’elegance to unveil a radicalized Urus.
The Urus Performante weighs 47 kg less than the normal version
Like a Porsche GT3 RS (or a small tuned Japanese car), the Urus Performante dares the exposed carbon fiber hood. Its extreme exterior presentation, made of more becoming shields and 23-inch rims (optional), goes hand in hand with a reworked chassis, a more powerful engine and more downforce-rich aerodynamics. Instead of 650 horsepower in the normal version, the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 (common to the most powerful luxury thermal models of the Volkswagen group) develops the diabolical figure of 666 horsepower (for an unchanged torque of 850 Nm).
Inside, the selector offers a unique “Rally” mode for off-road driving
The 707 horsepower Aston Martin DBX707 remains the most powerful SUV on the market and the Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid also keeps the advantage thanks to its electric motor. But the Urus Performante also receives suspensions lowered by 20 mm, tracks widened by 16 mm and a new rear differential. Above all, Lamborghini’s French press release speaks of Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R with pneumatic tires, a semi-slick that would have been specially adapted here to the needs of a very high-performance SUV. The 0 to 100 km / h falls in 3.3 seconds, like the Porsche Cayenne GT of 640 horsepower and the Aston Martin DBX707. The Urus Performante also admits 47 kg less on the scale thanks to its carbon fiber body parts. It still claims 2,150 kg empty.
€262,184 in France
Capable of spinning at 306 km/h at top speed (which is not enough to make it the fastest SUV in the world), the Urus Performante will start in France at a price of €262,184. It will obviously also be targeted by the maximum ecological penalty and that by weight, but we imagine that the more than 40,000 € to be added will be less painful at this price level.
