Alfa Romeo is betting big on the Tonale, this recently launched compact SUV which should allow the brand to make up some of its delay against Audi, BMW and Mercedes. It will be followed by an even more compact crossover in 2024, then the renewal of the Giulia sedans and other Stelvio SUVs. But according to the new boss of the brand Jean-Philippe Imparato, placed at the head of Alfa Romeo by Carlos Tavares who dislodged him from Peugeot, the Turin brand will also launch a brand new sports car.
In an interview with our English colleagues from Autocar, he indeed confides the arrival of an exceptional sports car whose presentation will take place before the end of next year. And we are not talking about an affordable 4C car: the idea will rather be to offer an elitist model in small series to pay tribute to the 33 Stradale of 1967!
Thermal or electric
The car will first be shown in the form of a concept car and the production of its final version will follow by 2025 years later. And according to Jean-Philippe Imparato, it will be “either 100% electric or 100% thermal”. Will it incorporate technical elements from other brands, for example the chassis and/or the engine of the latest Maserati MC20? Remember that in 2007, the beautiful Alfa Romeo 8C took over the entire mechanical base of the Maserati Gran Turismo. One thing is certain: Alfa Romeo fans are going to be delighted!
