In March 2020, the Geneva Motor Show was canceled in extremis in the midst of the explosion of the coronavirus pandemic. It was also canceled for the following two years due to the great uncertainties about the health crisis, which do not help the organizers of this kind of event at a time when more and more manufacturers are turning their backs on classic shows. Well, while the “Geneva International Motor Show” (GIMS) was to make its big comeback next March, we finally learn that it will be canceled again in a surprise press release!
Officially, it is still the coronavirus crisis that justifies this new cancellation. Since the Geneva Motor Show is held at the height of winter, it always falls during periods when epidemic peaks are most likely to disrupt the holding of major events. While the Paris Motor Show 2022 fails to attract all car manufacturers, we imagine that the organizers of Geneva are also struggling to bring everyone. There will however be a Geneva Motor Show in 2023: it will be exported to Qatar in November!

The first “Geneva International Motor Show Qatar” is due to take place in Doha, in several places in the city. It promises visitors “many unique and spectacular driving experiences”. It remains to know the list of starting manufacturers and to hope that the event is not canceled too. But the time when the Geneva Motor Show was an unmissable event to see all the biggest new cars on the planet unfortunately seems to be over.
