Months, even years, that we wait to be able to see the new James Bond “Dying Can Wait” (“No Time To Die”) in the cinema. It’s been tough that the film’s release has been postponed many times due to the pandemic. The 25th film in the 007 saga, the most famous secret agent in the history of cinema, should arrive in French cinemas on October 6.
The most impatient will have already seen many action scenes in the various trailers released in recent months. And if we know that the famous spy played by Daniel Craig will be in Aston Martin DB5 in particular, the chases have already been able to highlight another main mechanical character: the Land Rover Defender.
And after seeing a superb commercial that undermines the invincible all-terrain vehicle, Land Rover once again capitalizes on its participation in the film with a special “Bond Edition” of its Defender.
The Bond Edition of the Defender is based on the models featured in “Die Can Wait” and is available in 90 and 110 versions. Other UK SUVs such as Range Rover Sport SVR, Range Rover Classic and Land Rover Series III also appear in the film.
The edition features a bodywork adopting the extended Black Pack with 22-inch alloy wheels, Xenon blue front brake calipers and a “Defender 007” badge on the rear.
In addition to the exterior, there are various references to the film in the interior. For example, the door sill features illuminated “007” lettering, while the Pivi Pro infotainment system features animation dedicated to the British spy franchise. And when the doors are open in the evening, the “007” logo is projected on the ground.
The exclusive Defender Bond Edition is powered by the V8 engine 5.0 supercharged developing 525 hp and 624 Nm of torque. Coupled with the 8-speed automatic transmission, the Land Rover accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds, reaches 240 km / h – quite simply the fastest Defender of all time.
Each of the 300 units for worldwide use was developed by SV Bespoke, Land Rover’s special models division. The interior also features the SV Bespoke logo and the “one of 300” laser engraving. Bad news, the few copies intended for the French market have already all found a taker!
