Autolib. An open-air Bolloré Bluecar cemetery

Presented as a real revolution in mobility, the Autolib car-sharing service quickly turned into a fiasco. Removed from the streets of Paris in the summer of 2018, Bolloré’s Bluecars have also been abandoned in Lyon and Bordeaux more recently. Many of them are now living a new life in the hands of owners with often limited budgets. The Breton company Autopuzz has in fact specialized in the resale of these vehicles at low prices, with some success.

Hundreds of Bluecars on a wasteland

But all the old Bolloré obviously did not have the same luck. Recently, a veritable open-air “cemetery”, installed on a vacant lot not far from the Matra museum de Romorantin (Loir-et-Cher), has been talked about a lot on social networks Facebook and Twitter. We discover hundreds of these electric city cars, often in poor condition, as if abandoned to the four winds. Mathias Dugenetay, from the blog-engine site, lives nearby and quickly got there. “The place was really accessible without worry, he told us. Cwhen I returned there, a few days later, “private property” signs had sprung up. »

Vehicles stored without battery

Even if he denounces a “Real mess” in the long and interesting article he devoted to the subject, the blogger refuses to fall into catastrophism and play the game of anti-electric cars. He noted in particular that the batteries had been removed, making it possible to rule out a risk of fire, the ecological consequences of which could have been dramatic. The fate of these Bluecar, often vandalized, however remains rather unclear. Autopuzz does sell, on leboncoin, a non-rolling lot intended for professionals and based in Romorantin. But this barely includes more than a hundred units. It is stored elsewhere, in an asphalt parking lot, and only represents a marginal activity for the Breton company. The burden of recycling hundreds of other copies therefore seems to be the responsibility of another company specializing in this field, Atis Production, which we unfortunately did not manage to reach.
