The GT-R R35 is one of the longest lived models on sale. It was first introduced back in 2007. Then there was a string of updates, the largest of which is the 2016 facelift. At the same time, the Japanese sports car clearly needs a total redesign. Apparently, working on the R36 generation, the Japanese are more inclined towards evolution than revolution.

Following the example of the upcoming Z, based on the revised 370Z platform, the new GT-R will have a completely redesigned body, according to Japan’s Best Car magazine. The interior will also be redesigned in accordance with modern technology and safety standards. There will be a virtual tidy and the latest proprietary multimedia.

On the technical side, the new Nissan GT-R will receive a modified R35 chassis with new components and fresh suspension tuning. The VR38DETT engine will remain, and the rumored “mild” hybrid is still questionable, despite tightening emission and noise standards.

Auto experts expect the updated twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 to produce 592bhp. and 652 Nm of torque.

The numbers are close to the current GT-R NISMO. The transmission is automatic. We do not know how Nissan is going to meet the emission standards that have forced many automakers to electrify their models or to abandon ICE cars altogether.

Perhaps the automaker is betting on its new lineup of all-electric and hybrid models. Even so, the question is whether the new GT-R will be available in Europe, where more and more countries are about to ban the sale of fossil fuel vehicles entirely.

The brand will discontinue production of the current GT-R R35 in the fall of 2022, and its successor will appear in early 2023, according to unofficial reports.

The Nissan Leaf electric hatchback has received a new horn that warns pedestrians of the presence of a car.

The all-electric Nissan Leaf has received updates for the 2021 model year with a focus on increased safety with a new pedestrian alert system and some additional driver assistance technologies. At the same time, the company managed to leave untouched prices, which start at 25,995 pounds sterling in the UK, or about 2.68 million rubles.

Nissan has labeled the Leaf’s new pedestrian warning horn with the cryptic word “Canto.” It was created by the brand’s sound engineering team in Japan as the soundtrack for all of the company’s electric vehicles, and then adapted for the European market.

The horn was designed to provide pedestrians with an acoustic warning similar to that of a combustion engine. It is automatically activated at speeds up to 30 km / h and varies in height depending on whether the Leaf is accelerating, braking or reversing.

In addition to the new horn, Nissan has also installed Intelligent Blind Spot Detection as standard on the updated Leaf. The technology monitors nearby traffic on the motorway and, if the driver begins to deviate to the side, it automatically guides the vehicle back into its lane.

The 2021 Nissan Rogue is being recalled for the fourth time this year due to rear seat issues.

The recall notice states that in some instances the rear seats were not properly manufactured by the Nissan supplier. The automaker says the top safety cables in the rear seats may not have been properly welded to the seat back frame, which is important as they are part of the LATCH system for securing child seats.

An investigation by Nissan found that these cables may have become dislodged during the welding process, which means they may not have been welded sufficiently to the seat back. This can result in the safety lines not meeting the strength requirements of the child restraint systems. During inspection Nissan found three seats on the left and one on the right with insufficient weld seams. The company is not aware of any incidents related to this issue.

A total of 47,098 Rogue SUVs from the 2021 model year are eligible for recall. If dealers find an inappropriate weld, they will replace the damaged seat back free of charge. Owners will be notified by mail from July 30th.

The last time the Nissan Rogue was recalled was in May due to the fact that the rear brake caliper assemblies may have been missing an internal bushing that secures the o-ring. This is not nothing, even if the GT endowment offers equipment similar to that of the Japanese by integrating digital instrumentation, hands-free opening, GPS, semi-autonomous driving and LED headlights. You have to put your hand in the wallet to have the motorized tailgate, while some equipment offered by the Qashqai is missing such as the rear traffic alert. Note, however, that the tricolor SUV makes a little more effort in terms of presentation by offering the contrasting black roof, biton rims and Alcantara on the seats, the dashboard and the storm doors. Despite its EAT8 box, the Peugeot is on par with its rival in terms of the penalty, with € 310 levied by the State on this version.

To drive

After driving the Qashqai in its Xtronic version, we were eager to put its manual transmission to the test. Free of the continuously variable transmission, would the very famous 1.3 TCe find a little going? This is unfortunately not quite the case. Equipped with very long ratios, the SUV highlights a response time of the turbo significantly more marked than on the Renault models. To compensate, it is therefore necessary to downshift relatively often, especially as the Nissan accuses 84 kg more on the scale than its rival yet equipped with an automatic transmission. The 12V hybridization system does not change anything, its only interest being to make the Stop & Start much faster.

Fortunately, the four-cylinder retains its usual qualities of silence and smooth operation. Without a multi-link rear axle in this Tekna version with 18-inch rims, the Qashqai nevertheless confirmed the qualities of comfort that it had revealed during the first test. It certainly does not exceed the 3008 in this area but makes an excellent copy despite some trepidation at low speed. The difference with the Peugeot is clearer in terms of driving pleasure. With a less clear direction and a less incisive front end, the Japanese are forced to bow to the master. However, no one blames a tennis player for losing to Nadal on clay. For the Nissan, the game was over. Fortunately, it can show off a fuel consumption 0.5 l / 100 km lower on average compared to that of its rival. We thus recorded an average of 6.9 l / 100 km on our mixed test route. Here we find a major quality of the four-cylinder borrowed from Renault.

Compared to the latest representatives of the compact SUV category, our two models have the merit of keeping dimensions contained, well below 4.50 m. We say thank you to them when parking in places or in garages whose size is not extendable. This is particularly true for the 3008. Admittedly the definition of its reversing camera is execrable compared to that of the Qashqai, but its contours are clear, which makes it very easy to maneuver “in the rearview mirror”, a characteristic which has become rare today. ‘hui. For the rest, we find the Peugeot as in itself. It still offers the best agility / comfort ratio in its class.

Thanks to its small steering wheel and precise steering, it always offers that little extra driving pleasure without the passengers having the least to complain about. The quality of damping remains remarkable in every way. We will be a little less rave about the couple formed by the 1.2 PureTech and the EAT8. Noisier and more vibrant than the four-cylinder Nissan, the three-cylinder is certainly a little more flexible and efficient, but it still suffers with this transmission a few jerks at low speed and is a little more greedy. An appetite that must also be attributed to the EAT8 transmission. Finally, note that its driving aids appear both less intrusive and more relevant in their operation than those of the Nissan.

To live

If we had rather appreciated the finish of the Qashqai in Tekna + version, the comparison of its Tekna version with the 3008 GT clearly turns out to be to its disadvantage. Not only does the design of the Peugeot dashboard pass the time without a hitch, but the quality of materials and assemblies is clearly superior to that of the Japanese. This one is characterized by a very conventional interior style which uses black lacquered plastic not always of the best effect, while its mixed upholstery does not deliver the same impression of quality. With its Alcantara inserts, its “piano” keys and its chrome notes, it always inspires a real high-end feeling. The Qashqai makes up for it thanks to the modernity of its multimedia system on-board, much more complete and faster than the now totally outdated PSA system. We are still surprised that Peugeot did not see fit to update it during the restyling!

At the rear, the comparison turns to the advantage of the Nissan, which offers significantly more legroom, which has always been the weak point of Peugeot. The benches are comfortable, with however a central place to be reserved for people of small stature. If the French claims a slightly larger trunk, the advantage is not decisive with only 16 liters of difference. On the other hand, its front seat, which can be folded into a tablet, is certainly an asset when it comes to loading long objects. The Nissan replies with its two-part floor, which allows the trunk to be compartmentalized. In both cases, it is very well seen!

The Carlos Ghosn case is still far from having delivered its verdict and many trials are still taking place in Japan, in particular concerning former collaborators of the car magnate. And on the occasion of a trial held on Wednesday, tongues were still loosened and the general manager of Nissan provided several details about the methods used by Carlos Ghosn.

“We were only trying to play melodies that appealed to our leader”, said Makoto Uchida, general manager of Nissan during the trial of a former collaborator of Carlos Ghosn which took place in Tokyo. Information has appeared on the web that Nissan is developing a Nissan Z Nismo and a hybrid version of the Nissan GT-R.

There is only one month left until the 2022 Nissan Z debuts in New York. Among the many unknown details, it is still unknown what Nissan will call the production car, the 400Z or possibly just the Z. The car is reportedly going to use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that sends power to the rear wheels via a 6-speed mechanical or 9-speed automatic transmission. This engine is rumored to produce 400bhp and a faster model may arrive sooner than expected.

Japan’s Best Car claims Nissan will showcase the Z Nismo variant at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Show in January. The automaker will release this model later that year. Recall that the previous Nissan 370Z offered a version of the Nismo with a slight increase in power and numerous handling improvements.

The 3.7-liter V6 370Z Nismo engine put out 350bhp, slightly higher than the standard car’s 332bhp. Unfortunately, this version is rumored to receive no power increase over the non-Nismo variant, which means the updates will be visual and control-related. Possibly stiffer suspension, sport seats and 20-inch wheels instead of 19-inch ones. Alongside the Nismo road car, Nissan is reportedly developing a racing version of the GT4 that will compete with the likes of the Supra.

The Z Nismo news isn’t the only rumor coming from Nissan this week. After months of silence, sources say the next-generation Nissan GT-R (R36) will have a hybrid powertrain, still mated to a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 to meet CAFE and noise restrictions. The full-size Nissan Titan pickup truck saw sales decline last year under pressure from rivals such as the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado and Ram trucks. The situation can be corrected by the appearance of an updated model.

Josh Byrnes, an artist at CarScoops, showed what a new generation pickup might look like, and the editorial staff of a foreign portal pondered what technologies and options the new Nissan Titan needs to better compete with the dominant three from Ford, GM and Ram.

A Nissan Pickup with a 150 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 580-horsepower twin-engine powerplant and four-wheel drive could be a successful project.

The debut of the new pickup is expected no earlier than 2023-2024. Titan will have to build up sales in a tough competition: its main rivals are the all-new Toyota Tundra, Chevrolet Silverado, Ram 1500, Tesla Cybertruck, GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1T and Ford F-150.

One enthusiast has built a replica of the Nissan Maxima sedan from the first Fast & Furious part. The car belonged to a character named Vince.

In the original Fast and the Furious movie, one of the main cars may be Brian’s Toyota Supra, but we all know that in the first part of the picture there were quite a lot of equally interesting cars that need your attention. One of them is Vince’s Nissan Maxima, and someone has created a fantastic looking replica of a blue Japanese sedan.

Dominique Dubreuil (Dom Dub on YouTube) has created a car that he claims is the first on-screen and accurate clone of the Maxima from the original film.

He has already made a copy of Brian’s Mitsubishi Eclipse, as well as Jesse’s white VW Jetta, which was shown to actor Chad Lindbergh himself in 2017.

Like its famous counterpart, Monsieur Dubreu’s Maxima also comes with Stillen brakes, TSW wheels and the “air brush” graphics that the original car had. It even has a set of Bomex mirrors designed for the Nissan 240SX S14 that fits the Maxima pretty well.

Inside, details of the car from the movie are visible, including blue suede upholstery, a Clarion head unit, and a massive JBL sound system. It also has a screen on the headrests, while Tuner Magazine gave Dubreu the idea to add an HKS boost sensor to the center console cupholder area, which wasn’t even featured in the original Fast and Furious movie.

This is a really great build and we thank Dubreuil for the final product after months of work on it. Although his plan to show the car to Matt Schulze (the actor who played Vince) and Craig Lieberman (the owner of the original Maxima) did not materialize due to the restrictions of the pandemic.

Again, Dubreuil announced that his next project would be Letty’s Nissan 240SX, so we can keep an eye on that. The Maxima in the original Fast & Furious got a stunning replica
