With an 8-year career on the clock, the current generation is bowing out. Suzuki has decided to turn the page by radically changing the look of its 4.30m SUV. The new S-Cross is presented as an SUV with a much more massive look than the previous one, despite the dimensions unchanged. This translates into a more horizontal hood, plenty of guards and angular wheel arches. At the front, the lights are now connected by a chrome bar which crosses the grille lengthwise. This consensual and not very daring design follows a global logic, and especially Asian (South-East Asia, India …), because these are its main markets.

The interior presentation of the S-Cross changes little. The most notable development is the installation of the central touch screen, whose diagonal goes from 7 to 9 inches. The dashboard is more sculpted, and several buttons have been redesigned or moved compared to the model launched in 2013. Evolving little technically, the SUV retains the dimensions of its predecessor with still 4.30 m long which makes it positions itself between the segment of urban and compact SUVs (between a Peugeot 2008 and 3008). The capacity of its trunk does not change either with 430 l claimed.

Still offered in 2 or 4 wheel drive, it will be launched with a light hybridization gasoline engine of 129 hp before the arrival of a new 1.5 simple hybrid, supplied by Toyota as part of the partnership between the two brands. The Mercedes EQS is the electric equivalent of the S-Class developed on a specific platform and bringing together all the know-how of the German brand in emission-free propulsion and safety and comfort equipment. A kilometer-long eating machine in the comfort, silence and security that we have decided to push to its limits.

No, we are not going to do dozens of laps of the ring road to test the maximum autonomy of this EQS 450+, the most efficient version of Mercedes’ electric road, even if it was tempting to check the 784 km d autonomy announced by the WLTP cycle which would be enough for it to beat the record for the section.

We are heading tomorrow in a different direction with a simple goal: to achieve the greatest possible distance in 24 hours. We have thus concocted a loop almost exclusively motorway and including several Ionity fast charging stations capable of delivering without the least drop of perspiration the 200 kW that the EQS can withstand. No eco-driving on the program and even less hypermiling: we will stick to the limitations in force at the cruise control and we will not deprive ourselves of using the (very) numerous onboard equipment. A test which therefore mixes efficiency but also recharging speed!

How many kilometers will we be able to cover in one revolution of the dial? There is obviously a record for an electric car which is 2,781 km, achieved in 2019 by the Youtubeur Bjørn Nyland at the wheel of a Tesla Model 3. No chance of beating it since it was made in Germany to take advantage of the portions unlimited freeways but we will try to get as close as possible.

The “short” version of the Volkswagen Tiguan, the brand’s best-selling model in the world, was restyled late last year. With 1.5 million copies sold since 2017, the long version of the Tiguan, called Allspace, is already a success for Volkswagen. Appeared since early 2018, the third generation now goes through the restyling box. The changes made on this occasion are significant since they relate first of all to the style of the compact family since the front face changes radically with the adoption of a revised grille overhung by the new logo of the brand. The front and rear bumpers are redesigned and so are the headlamps and lights.
