The power of the AMG One leaked in Forza Horizon 5?

Forza Horizon 5 is out now, and the Mercedes-AMG Project One has an important role in the game, it’s even the cover car! Mercedes-AMG has not yet specified the final power of the hypercar. However, FH5 allows you to check the specs of any vehicle, and the numbers for the One don’t match any of the automaker’s previous announcements. Are these the final figures?

We took a quick photo of the Forza Horizon 5 screen clearly showing the AMG One with 877 HP (or 889 hp) and 725 Nm of torque. It weighs 1695 kilograms, 49% of which is on the front axle. The S2 classification places the hypercar among the most efficient vehicles on the market.

It is not known exactly where these numbers come from. Motor1.com has contacted Mercedes for clarification. All reports for the Mercedes-AMG One say a total output of over 1,000 horsepower and maybe even 1,200 horsepower. This power comes from a 1.6-liter turbo V6 linked to Formula 1 and four electric motors.

We initially thought that the numbers shown in Forza Horizon 5 were only for the V6 and didn’t take into account hybrid assistance.. This would make sense for two reasons. First, because the power is much lower than the previous information. In addition, its torque seems very low for a hypercar with an internal combustion engine and four electric motors.

However, this explanation is not perfect. A 2018 report states that the combustion engine alone produces 680 hp and has a red line at 11,000 rpm. But, a later article indicates that Mercedes is delaying the launch of the One supposedly to make tweaks to the hypercar to comply with emissions regulations. In general, one would expect this to mean a reduction in power from the V6, rather than an increase of 209 hp.

It is also possible that the developer of Forza Horizon 5, Playground Games, received rough performance specifications for the One. The team then gave the car the power and torque to keep the in-game car up to Mercedes numbers. Whatever the reason the Forza Horizon 5’s One develops 889 horsepower, we can safely say that it is a pleasure to drive. Mercedes unveils the new Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic + at the Munich Motor Show, its first electric sports car, with up to 761 horsepower.

Mercedes’ first all-electric AMG will be presented to the public at the IAA Mobility salon in Munich, which will open its doors from September 7 to 12, 2021.
